Doug grew up in Detroit, Michigan, where he spent his early working years alongside his father building custom interior woodwork and cabinets. It was a family business, and it taught him the things that still show up in his work today. Measure carefully. Do it right the first time. Take pride in the finish, because someone is going to live with it long after you have gone home.
He brought that same standard to Austin, where he has spent more than a decade servicing pools across the area. In that time, he has seen just about everything a Texas summer can do to a backyard. Doug joined Walker Luxury Vacation Rentals in May 2025 as our Pools and Maintenance Manager, and he knows a pool is rarely just a pool. It is the reason a family chose the home and the first thing guests walk out to see. He keeps the water clean and balanced across our portfolio, stays ahead of the small problems long before a guest ever notices one, and is the reason many of our owners never have to think about their pool at all.
Doug lives just south of Austin with his dog, Ike. When he is off the clock, you will usually find him tending a smoker for friends and family, or enjoying a good whiskey at the end of a long day in the Texas sun.
